One thing to clear up: some websites still say CBT 1 is on 27, 28 and 30 October. The RRBs’ notice dated 2 October 2026 revised the schedule to 27 and 28 October only. Trust the date printed on your own e-call letter.
How to download the RRB JE admit card 2026
- Open the official website of the RRB you applied to (for example, RRB Chennai, RRB Patna, RRB Secunderabad). All regional sites are linked from rrb.indianrailways.gov.in.
- In the CEN list, find 04/2026 and click “E-Call Letters”.
- Log in with the registration details you used on rrbapply.gov.in.
- Download the e-call letter PDF and print it on A4 paper. Keep two copies.
The download window opens about 4 days before your exam date. So if your city slip says 28 October, your link may open a day after a friend’s 27 October link. Don’t panic if it doesn’t work on the first try.
SC/ST candidates who opted for free travel: your e-call letter itself is the travel authority (sleeper class pass). Carry your original caste certificate and ID during the journey.
Details to check on your e-call letter
Check these today, not on exam morning:
- Name, photo and date of birth: they must match your ID proof
- Exam date, shift and reporting time
- Full venue address: open it on Google Maps and plan the route
- Exam group (Civil, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical & allied, or CMA)
- Category and PwBD status, and scribe details if you registered one
If something is wrong, call the helpdesk at 9513166371 (Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm) as soon as possible.
Aadhaar rules: do this before you leave home
This is where many candidates lose time at the gate. The RRB notice says:
- Biometric Aadhaar verification is done at the centre before you enter the hall.
- Bring your original Aadhaar card or a printout of e-verified Aadhaar.
- Make sure your Aadhaar biometrics are unlocked in the UIDAI system. If you locked them on the mAadhaar app or the UIDAI site, unlock them before exam day.
- If you haven’t verified Aadhaar on rrbapply.gov.in yet, log in and do it now.
Honestly, unlock your biometrics tonight. It takes two minutes, and a locked Aadhaar on exam morning is a problem you can’t fix at the gate.
Documents to carry and exam-day rules
As per the CEN, you must carry:
- Printed e-call letter
- An original photo ID: Aadhaar or e-Aadhaar printout, voter ID, driving licence, PAN card, passport, or college ID if you’re still studying
- A colour passport-size photo taken not more than 2 months before the exam
Rules to remember:
- No calculators, phones, Bluetooth devices or any electronic gadget. Even a switched-off phone found on you can cancel your candidature and get you debarred from RRB exams.
- You’ll write a self-declaration paragraph and sign it in front of the invigilator. Don’t write it in advance, and don’t sign in CAPITAL letters. Both lead to rejection.
- No request to change the centre, date or shift will be accepted.

RRB JE CBT 1 exam pattern 2026
CBT 1 is the same for all posts in this CEN. It is a screening test. The normalised score only decides who goes to CBT 2.
| Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 30 | 30 |
| General Science (up to Class 10 CBSE) | 30 | 30 |
| General Intelligence & Reasoning | 25 | 25 |
| General Awareness | 15 | 15 |
| Total | 100 | 100 |
- Time: 90 minutes (120 minutes for candidates eligible for a scribe)
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark cut for every wrong answer
- Minimum marks to be eligible: UR and EWS 40%, OBC (NCL) and SC 30%, ST 25%
Notice there is no technical section in CBT 1. Your diploma or B.Tech subjects come in CBT 2. Maths and Science together are 60 of the 100 marks, so spend your last two days there, not on reading new GK.
With 3–4 days left, my suggestion: take the RRB mock test (the “Mock Test Link” for 04/2026 is on the RRB sites) once to get used to the screen, then do one full 90-minute practice paper a day and review every wrong answer.
What comes next after CBT 1
- Answer key: RRBs usually publish the CBT 1 response sheets and provisional answer key with an objection window on the regional sites a few weeks after the exam. No date is announced yet. We’ll update this page when it’s out.
- CBT 2 shortlist: about 15 times the community-wise vacancies of each RRB, based on normalised CBT 1 marks.
- CBT 2: 150 questions in 120 minutes, covering General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, Computers, Environment, and the technical subjects of your exam group.
- Then: document verification and medical examination.
Fee refund: if you appear in CBT 1, general candidates get ₹400 of the ₹500 fee back, and SC, ST, ExSM, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and EBC candidates get the full ₹250 back (minus bank charges). One more reason not to skip the exam even if your preparation feels weak.
If you’re also tracking other railway exams, see the RRB Technician answer key and result and the new RRB Station Master recruitment (applications expected to open on 27 October).
