Update (23 October 2026): The objection window closed on 22 October at 11:55 PM. RRB is now reviewing the objections. As of today, the CEN 02/2026 section on the RRB websites has no “Exam Results” entry yet, so the result isn’t out. I’ll add it here, with the official cut-offs, when it is.

The RRB Technician answer key 2026 is out for both Grade I Signal and Grade III (CEN 02/2026). Candidates could see their questions, responses and the provisional key, and challenge answers until 22 October 2026, 11:55 PM, at ₹50 per question.

There’s also good news for Grade III candidates: on 16 October, RRB increased Grade III vacancies from 6,234 to 7,002. If you applied for Fitter, C&W or Welder in some zones, your chances just went up. Details below.

21 or 22 October? The official date

Several websites are telling you the objection window closes on 21 October. The official notice says 22 October 2026 at 11:55 PM. Both notices (one for Grade I, one for Grade III), signed by the Chairpersons of the Railway Recruitment Boards and dated 15 October, give the same date.

That window has now closed, and RRB says no representation will be entertained after it.

How to check the RRB Technician answer key 2026

  1. Open rrb.indianrailways.gov.in or the website of the RRB you applied to.
  2. In the recruitment updates, go to Post-Examination Phase. Pick your RRB and CEN 02/2026, and set the category to Objection Tracker.
  3. You’ll see two entries dated 15-10-2026: one for Technician Gr. I and one for Technician Gr. III. Click the link icon next to yours.
  4. Log in with the details you used to apply (usually your registration number and date of birth or password).
  5. Your question paper opens with your marked option and the provisional correct answer for each question. (The objection link was meant to work only till 22 October, so if it no longer opens, use the response sheet you saved, or wait for the final key.)

The notice PDF and the login link sit side by side in that row. The PDF only has the dates and rules. The link icon is where your actual answers are.

How to calculate your score

Both Grade I and Grade III papers have the same structure: 100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes.

  • Correct answer: +1
  • Wrong answer: −1/3
  • Not attempted: 0

Your raw score = correct answers − (wrong answers ÷ 3)

Example: you attempted 85, and 70 are right as per the key. Wrong = 15. Score = 70 − 5 = 65 out of 100.

Keep in mind this is your raw score. Grade III was held over four days in many shifts, so RRB will normalise the marks across shifts. Your final normalised score may be a few marks higher or lower than what you calculate today, depending on how tough your shift was.

Subject-wise questions (as per the CEN)

Grade I Signal Questions Grade III Questions
General Awareness 10 Mathematics 25
Reasoning 15 Reasoning 25
Basics of Computers 20 General Science 40
Mathematics 20 General Awareness 10
Basic Science and Engineering 35

The CEN calls this break-up “merely indicative”, so your paper may have been slightly different.

Minimum qualifying marks

Category Minimum % Out of 100
UR 40% 40
EWS 40% 40
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) 30% 30
SC 30% 30
ST 25% 25

PwBD candidates may get a relaxation of 2 marks if there aren’t enough PwBD candidates for their reserved posts.

Honestly, don’t read too much into these numbers. Crossing 40% only makes you eligible. The real cut-off will be much higher in most RRBs, because RRB shortlists for document verification at 1:1, meaning only as many candidates as there are vacancies in that RRB.

Grade III vacancies increased to 7,002: who benefits

Corrigendum No. 1, dated 16 October 2026, added 768 posts to Technician Grade III. The increase is only for three categories (Cat. 5 C&W, Cat. 12 Fitter (OL) and Cat. 15 Welder (OL)) in the RRBs listed below. Vacancies in all other RRBs and categories are unchanged.

RRB Post Old New
Kolkata (ER) Fitter (OL) 34 184
Chandigarh (NR) C&W 55 120
Gorakhpur (NER) Fitter (OL) 43 108
Secunderabad (SCR) C&W 47 107
Guwahati (NFR) C&W 58 103
Muzaffarpur (ECR) Fitter (OL) 43 103
Mumbai (CR) Fitter (OL) 52 102
Siliguri (NFR) Fitter (OL) 83 119
Ranchi (SER) Fitter (OL) 14 76
Bengaluru (SWR) Fitter (OL) 31 76
Secunderabad (SCR) Fitter (OL) 17 72
Bilaspur (SECR) C&W 19 64
Siliguri (NFR) C&W 13 33
Mumbai (CR) Welder (OL) 11 21

Kolkata Fitter more than five times bigger. Ranchi Fitter more than five times. Secunderabad Fitter four times. Since shortlisting is 1:1 per RRB, more posts in your RRB means more people get called for DV, which usually pulls the cut-off down. If you applied to one of these RRBs and listed these posts in your preferences, a borderline score is now worth taking seriously.

How objections are decided

The objection window is closed, but this is how it works (and what to keep in mind next time):

  • Check with a book or a trusted source, not memory. ₹50 isn’t much, but you get it back only if RRB agrees.
  • Look for “bonus” cases: a question with no correct option, two correct options, or a translation mistake between Hindi and English. These are the objections that usually succeed.
  • Collect all your doubts first, then pay once. Don’t keep going in and out of the portal on the last day.
  • Answer-key changes are applied to everyone. If you find a real mistake, you help every candidate who answered that question correctly.

RRB’s decision on objections is final, and no further correspondence is entertained.

RRB Technician result 2026: what comes next

The recruitment has three stages: CBT → Document Verification (DV) → Medical Examination.

  1. Final answer key and result: after reviewing the objections, RRB will publish the CBT result on the regional RRB websites. No date has been announced yet. I’ll update this page when it’s out.
  2. DV shortlist: candidates are shortlisted RRB-wise, equal to the number of vacancies. If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate ranks higher. If the age is also the same, the alphabetical order of the given name decides.
  3. Medical exam: each Grade III post has its own medical standard (A3, B1, B2 or C1). Grade I Signal needs B-1. If you’re medically unfit for your top preference but fit for a lower one, you may be allotted the lower post.
  4. Pay: Grade I Signal starts at ₹29,200 (Level 5), Grade III at ₹19,900 (Level 2), plus allowances.

Start keeping your documents ready now: your ITI or diploma certificates, caste and EWS certificates in the right format, and the same photo ID you used for the CBT. DV calls usually come quickly after the result, and missing a certificate is the most common way people lose a seat they had already won.

My take

If your raw score is comfortably above 60 in Grade III, prepare your DV documents now instead of waiting for the result. If you’re in the 45 to 55 range, your chances depend heavily on your RRB and post, and the 16 October vacancy increase could make the difference in the zones listed above. Either way, keep your saved response sheet handy, because the final key can shift your score by a mark or two.
