SSC JE exam city details: check yours first
SSC puts up the exam city and date about 10 days before the exam. Many of you can already see yours in the candidate login.
Here’s the rule people miss: if you can’t find your details one week before your exam date, you must contact your SSC Regional Office right away, with proof that you applied. The notification says that if you don’t, you lose any claim later. With exams starting 2 November, that week is now.
JE (Telecom) is a new post this year, and its Part-G paper runs in a separate batch. If you applied only for Telecom, your date may not fall within 2–6 November. Go by the date in your own login.
How to download the SSC JE admit card 2026
- Go to ssc.gov.in and click Login.
- Enter your registration number (OTR) and password.
- Open the Admit Card section and choose Junior Engineer Examination, 2026 (Paper-I).
- Download the admission certificate PDF.
- Print it in colour if you can, and keep one extra copy. SSC itself tells you to keep a spare for later stages.
SSC will not send the admit card by post or email. If the link isn’t showing, it’s most likely because your exam is more than 3–4 days away. Candidates with 6 November exams will get their cards later than those with 2 November exams.
Details to check on the admit card
Check these the day you download, not on exam morning:
- Name, photo and date of birth: the date of birth must match your ID proof exactly
- Exam date, shift and reporting time
- Full venue address: open it on a map and plan your route
- Subject/part: Part-A (Civil), Part-B (Electrical), Part-C (Mechanical), Part-D/E/F (IMD) or Part-G (Telecom)
- Category, PwBD status and scribe details, if any
The subject you chose in the form cannot be changed now, under any circumstances. If something else looks wrong, contact your SSC Regional Office with your registration ID, email, mobile number, name, date of birth and exam name. SSC ignores messages that leave these out.

Documents to carry and exam-day rules
What you need depends on whether you completed Aadhaar-based authentication while applying.
If you did Aadhaar authentication: bring the printed admission certificate and follow any extra instructions printed on it.
If you did not, the rules are stricter:
- Report 2 hours before the exam start time
- Carry 2 recent passport-size colour photos
- Carry an original photo ID with your date of birth printed on it, matching the admit card: Voter ID, driving licence, PAN, passport, college ID, employer ID or another government photo ID
- If your ID has no date of birth, also carry an original proof of date of birth (Class 10 certificate or marksheet, birth certificate or category certificate)
A date of birth mismatch means no entry. Check this tonight. It’s a silly reason to lose an exam you’ve prepared months for.
PwBD candidates using a scribe must also carry the medical certificate or undertaking and a photocopy of the scribe’s photo ID, as the notification says.
Don’t bring your own calculator. A scientific calculator, the IS 456:2000 tables and the steam table appear on the screen during the exam. A physical calculator isn’t allowed in the lab.

| Engineering subject (your part) | 100 | 100 |
| Total | 200 | 200 |

The big change: Paper 1 is only qualifying now
This is new in 2026. Paper 1 marks won’t count in your final merit. They’re used only to shortlist you for Paper 2. Final selection depends only on Paper 2 (100 questions, 300 marks, −1 per wrong answer).
The minimum qualifying marks in Paper 1 are:
| Category | Minimum marks |
|---|---|
| UR | 30% |
| OBC / EWS | 25% |
| All other categories | 20% |
But passing isn’t enough. Candidates are shortlisted by merit (normalised marks), with separate lists for JE Civil, JE Electrical & Mechanical, Scientific Assistant (IMD) and JE Telecom.
My honest advice for the last few days: don’t skip General Awareness just because Paper 1 is “only qualifying”. With thousands competing for a Paper 2 seat, those 50 easy-ish marks often decide who gets through. Revise static GK and the last 6 months of current affairs, and do 2 full mock tests on a computer, not on paper.
What comes after Paper 1
- Tentative answer key: SSC uploads it on ssc.gov.in after the exam. You can challenge answers online at ₹50 per question (non-refundable). See how this worked for CGL in our SSC CGL answer key 2026 post.
- Paper 1 result: a shortlist for Paper 2, by post-wise merit.
- Paper 2: tentatively in December 2026. It’s the paper that actually decides selection, so start technical revision right after 6 November.
- Document verification: done by the user department after the final result, not by SSC.

My take
Two things to do today. First, log in and confirm your exam city and date are showing. If they aren’t, call your Regional Office now, not on 1 November. Second, take out your photo ID and check that the date of birth matches your application.
After that, the admit card is just a download. Your last 5 days are better spent on mock tests than on refreshing the SSC website.

What is the SSC JE Paper 1 exam date in 2026?
SSC's notice dated 1 October 2026 fixes Paper 1 (computer based) from 2 to 6 November 2026. Your own date and shift are in your exam city details and on the admission certificate.
Is SSC JE Paper 1 qualifying in 2026?
