RRB NTPC Graduate Recruitment 2026: 3,548 Posts, Ends 6 Nov

RRB NTPC Graduate recruitment 2026 is out with 3,548 posts. Online applications opened on 8 October 2026 and close on 6 November 2026 (11:59 PM). Any graduate aged 18 to 33 (as on 1 January 2027) can apply, with the usual age relaxation for reserved categories.

Most of the posts this time (2,750) are for Goods Train Manager. There’s no typing test and no Station Master post. Here’s everything from the official notification, CEN 06/2026.

For comparison, the last NTPC Graduate notification (CEN 05/2024) had 8,113 posts, including 994 Station Master posts. This year’s list is less than half that, and nearly 8 out of 10 posts are Goods Train Manager.

You can apply to only one RRB, so this table matters. Pick it carefully, because you’ll normally be posted in that RRB’s zones for at least 5 to 10 years before a transfer request is even registered.

Telugu states: RRB Secunderabad has only 56 posts this time. Bigger RRBs mean more seats, but don’t pick a far-off RRB just for numbers unless you’re truly fine living there. Post-wise and zone-wise splits for each RRB are in Annexure B of the notification.

Eligibility

Educational qualification

A degree from a recognised university (or equivalent) for all 4 posts. Any stream works: BA, BCom, BSc, BTech and so on.

You must have the degree on or before 6 November 2026. If you’re still waiting for your final-year result, you can’t apply. This is the most common reason applications get rejected at document verification.

PwBD candidates get 10 years (UR/EWS), 13 years (OBC) or 15 years (SC/ST) of relaxation. Ex-servicemen, serving railway staff with 3 years’ service, and widowed or divorced women get separate relaxations, listed in para 5.2 of the notification. If you qualify for more than one, you get the biggest one, not all of them added up.

Medical standards (check this before you choose posts)

• Goods Train Manager (A2): 6/9 distant vision in each eye without glasses, plus colour, night and binocular vision tests. If you wear specs or have had LASIK, you are not eligible for this post.
• Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor (B2): glasses allowed (power up to 4D).
• Junior Accounts Assistant and Senior Clerk (C2): glasses allowed.

If you fail the medical for a post, Railways won’t give you a different post instead. So only list Goods Train Manager in your preferences if your eyesight meets A2.

Pay online only (UPI, card or net banking). The refund comes only if you actually write CBT 1, minus bank charges.

EBC means family income below ₹50,000 a year, with a valid certificate (Annexure IIIA), BPL card or similar document dated on or before 6 November 2026. Don’t confuse it with OBC or EWS.

Selection process and exam pattern

There are 3 stages: CBT 1, CBT 2, then document verification and medical. There’s no typing test this time for Senior Clerk and Junior Accounts Assistant. RRB says typing skills will be checked after joining instead, and poor typing can delay your confirmation, so still practise.

• Negative marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer in both CBTs.
• Qualifying marks: UR and EWS 40%, OBC and SC 30%, ST 25%.
• CBT 1 is only for screening. RRB shortlists 15 times the vacancies for CBT 2, and CBT 2 marks decide your rank.
• Language: you can write the exam in English, Hindi or 13 regional languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali.
• Document verification: candidates equal to the number of vacancies (1:1) are called.

The syllabus is the usual NTPC one: arithmetic up to elementary algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics; standard reasoning topics; and general awareness covering current affairs, Indian polity, history, geography, economy, science up to Class 10, computers and government schemes.

How to apply for RRB NTPC Graduate 2026

1. Go to rrbapply.gov.in. Only use this site. Fake RRB sites and “agents” exist.
2. Create an Account, or log in with your old one if you applied for any RRB exam in 2024, 2025 or 2026. Your name, date of birth, mobile and email can never be changed later, so match them to your 10th certificate.
3. Verify your identity with Aadhaar or DigiLocker. RRB says other ID proofs face much stricter checks at every stage.
4. Choose one RRB, then rank the posts and zones you want. If you leave a post out, you won’t be considered for it.
5. Take a live photo with your webcam or phone’s front camera: plain white background, dark clothes, no cap, mask or glasses, eyes open. You can’t upload an old photo.
6. Upload your signature: black ink on white paper, running handwriting (not capital letters), JPG, 30–49 KB. SC/ST candidates who want the free train pass also upload their caste certificate (PDF, under 400 KB).
7. Choose your exam language and pay the fee online by 8 November.
8. Download and save the confirmation.

Apply only once. More than one application, even to different RRBs, means all of them get rejected, and you can be banned from future RRB exams.

Should you apply?

If you’re a graduate under 33, yes. ₹500 is a small price, and you get ₹400 back just for writing CBT 1. The CBT 1 syllabus is close to SSC CGL and CHSL, so if you’re already preparing for those, this is extra practice.

But be realistic. 3,548 posts across India is fewer than last time, and lakhs will apply. If you wear glasses, 2,750 of those posts (Goods Train Manager) are closed to you, and you’re competing for the other 798 posts only. Apply anyway, but keep SSC and other exams going.

Two practical tips. Don’t wait until November, because the site always slows down in the last few days. And do the live photo in daylight against a white wall, because bad photos are a common reason for rejection.

If you’re from a science background, also look at the RRB Paramedical 2026 posts. Its last date is 14 October. If you have 12th with Maths and Physics or a diploma, Coast Guard Navik and Yantrik 2026 (365 posts) closes on 21 October.

What happens next

• 6 November: applications close (fee by 8 November).
• 9–18 November: correction window.
• CBT 1 date: not announced yet. RRB will post it on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, and you’ll get an SMS and email. City slips usually come about 10 days before the exam, and admit cards about 4 days before.
