If you’re an Andhra Pradesh family with a rice card and a gas connection, you can still claim your 2nd free cylinder of this year under Deepam 2. The current period runs from 1 August to 30 November 2026. Book a refill as usual, pay at delivery, and the subsidy comes to your bank account.

That’s the short answer. Below: who’s eligible, how to book, why the money sometimes doesn’t show up, and a payment change the government is still deciding on.

Detail Information
Scheme Deepam 2 (free LPG cylinder scheme), Andhra Pradesh
Run by AP Civil Supplies Department
Benefit 3 free domestic LPG cylinders a year, one every 4 months
Current period 1 August to 30 November 2026 (2nd cylinder of 2026-27)
Next period 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027 (3rd cylinder)
Who can get it Families with a rice card, LPG connection and active Aadhaar
How you get it Pay full price at delivery, subsidy credited to your bank account later
Must-do from 1 October 2026 Aadhaar biometric authentication of your LPG connection
Helpline 1967 (toll-free)

How the 3 periods work

The year is split into 3 blocks of 4 months. You get one free cylinder in each block:

Period Cylinder
April to July 1st
August to November 2nd (open now)
December to March 3rd

This schedule was reported by Eenadu and ETV Bharat on 18 September 2026. The AP government hasn’t published a separate notice for 2026-27 online, so if you’re unsure, confirm with your gas agency or call 1967.

Unused cylinders don’t carry forward. If you skip the August to November period, you lose that cylinder. You can’t take two between December and March.

Who is eligible

  • You must have a rice card (the white ration card) in Andhra Pradesh.
  • You need a domestic LPG connection (Indane, Bharatgas or HP Gas).
  • You need an active Aadhaar card, and your rice card should be linked to it.

The scheme started on 31 October 2024. Since then, around 92 lakh to 1 crore cylinders have been subsidised in each period, as reported by Eenadu. If you got your free cylinders last year and nothing has changed in your rice card or gas connection, you should still be covered.

Step 1: Finish LPG Aadhaar biometric authentication first

This is the step most people will miss. From 1 October 2026, the Centre made Aadhaar biometric authentication compulsory for subsidised LPG refills. Without it, you can’t book at the regulated price, so the Deepam 2 subsidy can’t work either.

It takes a few minutes on your gas company’s app (IndianOil ONE, HelloBPCL or HP PAY), or when the delivery person comes. Full steps are in our LPG Aadhaar biometric authentication guide.

Step 2: Book and take delivery of your cylinder

  1. Book a refill the normal way: your gas agency’s booking number, IVRS, WhatsApp booking, or your gas company’s app.
  2. Pay the full price when the cylinder is delivered. Yes, you pay first. Deepam 2 is a refund scheme, not a free handover at the door.
  3. Take the delivery before 30 November 2026. A booking made on 29 November but delivered in December may count in the next period, so don’t leave it to the last week.
  4. Keep the bill or the SMS with the delivery date. You’ll need it if the subsidy doesn’t come.

You don’t have to fill any separate Deepam 2 form. If you’re eligible, the subsidy is linked to your connection.

Step 3: Check that the subsidy came

The state government releases the Deepam 2 money to the oil companies, and they credit it to the bank account linked with your gas connection.

  • Check your bank SMS and passbook for a credit from your gas company (the SMS may mention IOCL, BPCL or HPCL).
  • If you have more than one bank account, check all of them. The money goes to the account linked to Aadhaar for subsidy, which may not be your main account. Eenadu reported this as one of the most common reasons people think they didn’t get it.
  • You can also see subsidy details for your refills in your gas company’s app.

How long does it take? In 2024 the government said 48 hours. In practice, Eenadu’s September 2026 report says beneficiaries often don’t know when it will come, so give it a week or two before you complain.

If the money doesn’t come

Work through these in order:

  1. Aadhaar biometric not done for your LPG connection. Do it first (see Step 1).
  2. Bank account not linked to Aadhaar for subsidy (DBT). Ask your bank to “seed” Aadhaar to your account for DBT.
  3. Rice card not linked to Aadhaar. Get it linked at your ward or village secretariat.
  4. You already took a free cylinder this period. Only one per 4 months.
  5. Still nothing? Call 1967, the AP Civil Supplies toll-free helpline, with your gas consumer number and delivery date.

Coming soon: subsidy on a fixed date (not final yet)

Reports on this change don’t agree, so here’s exactly where things stand.

  • July 2026: Oneindia Telugu reported that the CM announced Deepam 2 money would go straight into accounts every 4 months, even without booking.
  • 18 September 2026: Eenadu and ETV Bharat reported something different. Civil Supplies and Finance officials are discussing paying the subsidy on a fixed date in the following month. For example, cylinders taken in October would get the subsidy on a set date in November. You’d still book and pay first. The date is “to be decided soon”.

No government order on either change has been published. For now, keep booking and paying as before. Don’t wait for money to arrive without booking, or you may lose this period’s cylinder. I’ll update this post when the government announces the final system.

There’s no online application or fee for Deepam 2. If someone on WhatsApp or a phone call asks you to “register for free gas”, share an OTP, or pay a “processing fee”, it’s a scam. Don’t share your Aadhaar OTP or bank details with anyone except your bank and your gas agency at the counter.

My take

Honestly, this is free money that many families leave on the table, either because they don’t book in time or because the money goes to a bank account they never check. Book your cylinder this month, finish the Aadhaar biometric step today if you haven’t, and check every bank account you own after delivery.

Next step: if your LPG connection isn’t authenticated yet, do it now with our LPG Aadhaar biometric guide, then book your refill.

Frequently asked questions

What is the last date for the 2nd free gas cylinder under Deepam 2?

The 2nd cylinder of 2026-27 is for the August to November period, so take delivery by 30 November 2026. The 3rd cylinder period runs from 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027.

Who is eligible for the Deepam 2 free gas cylinder?

Andhra Pradesh families with a rice card, a domestic LPG gas connection and an active Aadhaar card. The rice card should be linked to Aadhaar.

Do I have to pay for the Deepam 2 free cylinder?

Yes, at first. You pay the full price to the delivery person, and the subsidy is credited to your bank account later. It is not handed over free at your door.

Will Deepam 2 money come without booking a cylinder?

Not as of 8 October 2026. A July 2026 report said the government wants to pay cash every 4 months without booking, but September 2026 reports say you still book, pay and then get the subsidy. No government order on the change has been published.

Can I carry forward an unused Deepam 2 cylinder to the next period?

No. You get one free cylinder in each 4-month period. If you don't take one between August and November, you can't claim two in December to March.

What is the Deepam 2 helpline number?

Call the AP Civil Supplies toll-free number 1967 for Deepam 2 complaints, such as subsidy not credited.
