ISRO SDSC SHAR Recruitment 2026 is open for 97 posts, and the last date to apply is 9 November 2026 (11:59 pm). Satish Dhawan Space Centre, the Sriharikota spaceport where India’s rockets take off, wants Technicians, Technical Assistants, Multi-Tasking Staff, Drivers, a Nurse, Firemen and more.

The best part: the qualifications start at 10th pass. If you have an ITI in Fitter or Electronic Mechanic, this is one of the better central government forms you’ll see this year. Most posts are at Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), with a few at Rasayani (Maharashtra), Balasore (Odisha) and Secunderabad (Telangana).

Fitter (17) and Electronic Mechanic (12) are where the real numbers are. Seven posts across codes 16 to 28 are set aside for Ex-Servicemen, and one post each in codes 07 and 18 is for PwBD (hard of hearing) candidates.

Where you’ll work: Physics (12) can be Sriharikota or Balasore. Post codes 10, 16, 17, 18 and 19 can be Sriharikota or Propellant Complex Rasayani (Raigad, Maharashtra), and you give your order of preference in the form. Boiler Attendant is at Rasayani only, code 30 is at ADRIN Secunderabad, and everything else is at Sriharikota. ISRO can also transfer you to any centre later.

Three things that trip people up:

• “First class” is compulsory for every Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant and Nurse post. A second-class diploma won’t do.
• Your qualification must be in hand by 9 November 2026. Results expected later don’t count.
• Driver experience must come after you got your licence, and only from a government body, registered company, society or trust. A certificate from a private individual is rejected, and part-time driving isn’t counted.

For the 35-year posts, that means you should be born on or after 10 November 1990 and on or before 9 November 2008. SC/ST candidates get 5 years extra and OBC candidates 3 years, but only against posts reserved for those categories. Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, central government staff and meritorious sportspersons get relaxation as per government rules.

Selection process and exam pattern

All written tests are online CBTs. There’s no interview for any post.

Marking: +1 for a right answer. Wrong answers cost 0.33 in the 80-question papers and 0.25 in the Driver and MTS papers.

Pass marks for the technical posts: 32/80 for unreserved and 24/80 for reserved candidates in the written test, and 50 or 40 out of 100 in the skill test. The skill test is pass/fail only, so your written test score alone decides your rank. People shortlisted for it: 5 per vacancy, with a minimum of 10.

Driver paper: Motor Vehicles Act (50 questions), 8th-standard English (15), 10th-standard arithmetic (15) and general knowledge (20). You need 50% in the Motor Vehicles Act part and 50% in the other three together.

MTS paper: numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and English. Pass marks are 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for OBC and 40% for other reserved categories.

Fireman applicants, take note: you must upload a Preliminary Medical Examination certificate (Annexure-A in the notification) from a government doctor not below Assistant Civil Surgeon rank. It’s valid for 6 months and must still be valid on PET day.

Exam centres

The CBT will be held in 18 cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Guntur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam. For Telugu candidates, Guntur, Hyderabad, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam are all on the list.

ISRO SDSC SHAR salary 2026

ISRO gives approximate gross pay at the starting point of each level (basic + DA), with HRA and transport allowance extra:

You’ll be under NPS or the Unified Pension Scheme. ISRO also lists medical cover for you and your family, canteen, free transport (instead of transport allowance), housing (instead of HRA), LTC and group insurance. The job includes round-the-clock shift and emergency duty, which is normal at a launch base.

The fee is per application, paid online only. If you don’t sit the written test, there’s no refund, and you must enter your bank details correctly in the form to get it back.

Keep these ready before you start:

• Recent colour photo, JPG, up to 40 KB, 110 × 140 pixels
• Signature, JPG, up to 20 KB, 200 × 50 pixels
• Qualification documents (10th, ITI/NAC, diploma, degree), up to 1 MB
• SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen certificate, if you want the full refund
• NOC from your employer, if you’re in a government or PSU job
• Fireman only: the PME certificate in Annexure-A format

Steps:

1. Read the official advertisement PDF for your post code.
2. Go to apps.shar.gov.in (or shar.gov.in) and open the link for Advertisement No. SDSC SHAR/RMT/03/2026.
3. Pick your post code and fill in the form. Give an email ID and mobile number you’ll keep using, since call letters only come by email and the website.
4. If your post code has two locations, enter your order of preference carefully. You can’t change it after selection.
5. Upload your documents, enter your bank details for the refund, and pay the fee online.
6. Note your registration number and download the confirmation form.

Applying for two different post codes? That’s two applications and two fees. Don’t submit twice for the same code: ISRO only keeps your last application.

Should you apply?

ITI holders in Fitter or Electronic Mechanic: yes, definitely. 29 posts between the two trades, a central government job at ISRO, and only a 90-minute written test standing between you and a skill test. Revise your ITI trade theory properly, because the paper tests depth, not just basics.

Diploma holders: apply only if you have first class. Mechanical has 7 seats, but Electrical and Computer Science have just 1 each. With so few seats, expect cut-offs far above the 32/80 pass mark.

10th pass candidates aged 18 to 25: MTS is worth a try. 16 seats, no skill test, and the paper looks a lot like SSC MTS. If you’re already preparing for RRB NTPC Undergraduate, the same prep covers most of it.

Think twice if you can’t live far from a city. Sriharikota is an island 100 km north of Chennai, and the job has night shifts. Graduates looking for a desk job may find CWC recruitment 2026 a better fit.

Apply before the first week of November. The fee is online only, and ISRO says it isn’t responsible for failed or pending payments. I’ll update this page when the CBT date and call letters are out.
