Jailer 2 Trailer Out: Release Date 15 Oct, Cast, Watch Links

Update (14 October): Jailer 2 releases tomorrow, Thursday 15 October, and first-day shows in Chennai and Bengaluru are filling fast. Trade tracker Sacnilk’s figures, as reported on 13 October: about ₹38 crore gross in India advance sales for the first four days, with about ₹21.75 crore for Day 1 alone. In the Telugu states, Vishwambhara is no longer listed for 16 October on ticketing apps, so Jailer 2’s main clash there is now Ranabaali (16 October). Kannada and Malayalam trailers still aren’t on Sun Network’s channels.

Earlier update (12 October): Jailer 2 has been certified U/A 16+ with a runtime of about 2 hours 45 minutes, as reported on 7 October, and advance booking is open. Details in the ticket booking section below.

The Jailer 2 trailer is out. Sun Pictures released it on 5 October 2026 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, and the film hits theatres on Thursday, 15 October 2026. That’s right before the Dussehra holidays.

Below you’ll find the official trailer links for each language, so you don’t end up on one of the many fake “official trailer” uploads doing the rounds. Then the cast, songs, and what we know about ticket booking.

Jailer 2 trailer: official YouTube links by language

All three trailers went up within about 5 minutes of each other on the evening of 5 October, on Sun Network’s own YouTube channels.

Watch out for fake trailers. Within hours, YouTube filled up with videos titled “JAILER 2 – Official Trailer” from fan and clickbait channels. Some even list actors like Hrithik Roshan in the title. If the channel isn’t Sun TV, Sun Gemini or Sun Neo, it’s not the official trailer.

The Kannada version is confirmed, because Sun Udaya, Sun Network’s Kannada channel, posted the Kannada release-date teaser in July. Its trailer hasn’t appeared yet. I’ll add the link here when it does.

What’s in the trailer credits

Going by the official video descriptions, Anirudh’s background score runs through all three versions, with a new “Jailer 2 Theme”. Each language gets its own lyrics and rap:

• Tamil: theme lyrics by Super Subu, rap “Putaapu Gang” by Tamizh Aadhavan
• Telugu: lyrics by Heisenberg and Bhaskarabhatla, rap “Allam Bellam” by Asura
• Hindi: lyrics by Heisenberg and Ritesh G Rao, rap “Bata Pathhar Ya Ret”

That’s a nice touch. A dubbed trailer with the Tamil rap left in usually sounds odd to Telugu and Hindi audiences.

Jailer 2 release date: 15 October

Sun Pictures announced the date through a release-date teaser on 2 July 2026, posted in each language on its channels. Since then the makers have also dismissed rumours of a delay.

Why 15 October? It’s a Thursday, so the film gets a 4-day opening weekend, and it lands right before the Dussehra holidays, when families go to theatres. It’s the same playbook as the first Jailer, which opened on a Thursday in August 2023 and became the highest-grossing Tamil film of that year.

It won’t be alone that week. Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali opens on 16 October, so screen counts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be tight for the first weekend. Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara, which was also listed for 16 October, has been taken off that date on ticketing apps and now shows “Coming soon”, with no new date from the makers yet. Jailer 2 songs released so far

Sun TV’s channel has put out these songs and themes before the trailer: Ala Bolelo, One Sun One Moon, One Name, Bindaas, Shaitaan, Dil Haareya and Hukum Reloaded (a new version of the first film’s hit theme). The full album is on music apps too, through the link in the trailer description.

Jailer 2 ticket booking: what to know

Booking is open. You can book on the usual ticketing apps and at theatre counters. First-day shows are filling fast, especially in Tamil Nadu.

Trade tracker Sacnilk’s numbers, as reported by The Week on 13 October: about ₹38.09 crore gross in India advance sales across the first four days (₹33.10 crore without blocked seats), with roughly 19.8 lakh tickets sold. Day 1 alone is about ₹21.75 crore. Tamil makes up nearly 90% of it, and Chennai is the top city, followed by Bengaluru. In Kerala, where Sree Gokulam Movies is releasing the film, pre-sales crossed ₹1.61 crore in the first hour of booking. These are trade estimates, not figures from Sun Pictures.

Certificate and runtime: the CBFC has given the film a U/A 16+ certificate, as reported on 7 October. That means children under 16 should watch only with a parent or guardian. The runtime is 165 minutes 18 seconds, about 2 hours 45 minutes, roughly 3 minutes shorter than the first Jailer. Plan for a 3-hour slot with the interval and ads.

A few practical tips:

• Book only on official apps or at the theatre counter. Every big Rajini release brings “FDFS tickets available” posts on WhatsApp and Instagram. Many are scams that take UPI money and vanish.
• Don’t pay blackmarket prices outside the theatre. If a show is full, a weekday evening show 3–4 days later is usually easy to get.
• Check the language and format before paying. The same theatre may run Tamil and Telugu versions at different times.

And please skip pirated prints. Recording a film in a theatre or sharing pirated copies is a crime under the Cinematograph Act, and “Jailer 2 download” sites are full of malware anyway.

What we still don’t know

• Kannada (and any Malayalam) trailer: still not on the official channels as of 14 October
• Official opening-day box office figures from Sun Pictures
• Which OTT platform gets it after the theatrical run

I’ll update this page as each one comes out, including the opening collection as claimed by the makers.

My take

The first Jailer worked because Nelson mixed dark comedy with big Rajini moments, and Anirudh’s “Hukum” theme did half the work. Jailer 2 keeps the same team and adds Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan, which is an interesting choice. Both are strong actors, not just “pan-India cameo” names.

My advice: watch the trailer in your own language from the links above, book early if you want a first-weekend show, and stay away from social media spoilers until you’ve watched it.
